My family is from El Salvador, and my mother immigrated to California when she was 15. I have never been to El Salvador. My mom immigrated because of a war happening in her country and she moved to California to escape the bad times. When my mom heard the racist’s comments from our President Donald Trump, she started to talk to me about politics. For the first time in my life, my family is getting involved in politics because Trump’s racist comments towards Hispanic nations brought back memories of hardship in my family. I want people to realize that even if you do not look like a blue eyed, blonde person from the Mid-West, you are still an American. You do not need to act a certain way or look a certain way to be American. I think Trump’s presidency is very negative, actually it is a disaster, because there is no reason for any of his policies and executive orders to be pushed forward. I disagree with everything that he says.

I think it is important for everyone to know that many Americans feel the exact same way. We do not accept him to represent most of the people of our country. Obviously, he lost the popular vote and I think what we are seeing now, with the protests and the State of Washington stepping up, that opposition to Trump is something that we are going to see a lot more of and I hope more people become inspired. Most of us realize that we need support from other nations in the world because people of different cultures help us fight against Trump’s negative ideas. I think we need more diversity and inclusion in the government so that there will be a better representation of our democracy. If the representation is more accurate, we will be a much stronger civilization and a much stronger society.
